About Olympia Philatelic Society
Stamp clubs in Olympia first started in 1934, when local enthusiasts formed the Capital Stamp Club. Though it paused after just three years, the passion for philately endured, and in 1955 the group reemerged as the Olympia Philatelic Society, which has be active ever since.
OPS is proud to be an active member of both the American Philatelic Society (APS) and the Northwest Federation of Stamp Clubs. For decades, our society has brought together individuals of all ages and experience levels who share a passion for philately—which is just the high-class word for “Stamp Collecting”.
From beginners just discovering the joy of stamp collecting to experienced specialists with deep areas of interest, our members enjoy a welcoming environment where they can connect with the joint enthusiasm for the timeless hobby. Monthly meetings, informative presentations, stamp auctions, and participation in regional shows are just a few of the opportunities available.
We believe philately is not just a hobby, but a bridge to history, culture, geography, and human connection. Whether you’re rediscovering a childhood collection or exploring stamps for the first time, the Olympia Philatelic Society offers a place to be inspired, get involved, and meet others who share your interest.
Today, our membership continues to grow, united by a shared appreciation for the stories that stamps tell.
